Chaleur
As climate change intensifies, cities around the world are heating up. Paris is a particularly striking example, having recorded the highest number of heat-related deaths among European cities (The Lancet, 2023). Through the voices of three residents living in the Paris region, this short essay film traces how extreme heat is felt, endured and navigated in daily life, along the lines of age, health, and socio-economic background. Their stories are interwoven with imagery of nature and urban elements filmed in Paris - contrasting the discomfort of urban heat with the healing, transformative potential of nature-based solutions.
The short film invites viewers into a sensory experience, allowing them to reconnect with nature. It aims to provoke reflection on climate vulnerability, highlight the urgency of political action and solidarity, and inspire a reimagining of how we live in cities.
Though rooted in the Paris region, the film hopes to draw attention to shared urban realities worldwide, offering a human lens and a vision of climate-resilient urban futures.
